Some times you have to erase the messages, stop replaying the memories, delete the pictures and move on. You don't have to forget who that person was to you; only accept they aren't that person to you anymore. πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜šπŸ‘‘ #hmu #tbh #quotes #happy

"What is identity and to what extend do we achieve our identity? What impact does society have?" This was a journal prompt for my Keystone English class the other day. Most people probably just half assed the response to get it done, but this really got me thinking. I'm not the type to normally sit here and pour my heart out into an Instagram post but our identity is all we have. Our identity is achieved by making ourselves into the people we want to be. We achieve this by doing activities we enjoy and making ourselves look how we want to make ourselves look. My English teacher brought up this: " I love high heels. I don't know whether society impacted me to love them or if it's truly because I'm in love with shoes. I could be in love with high heels because society says I'm not tall enough or because they're a popular thing for women to own." Society does impact people to an extent. But there are carefree people who are out there and just say who cares if it's what I like I'm going to do it. My teacher said "now at my current age if I like something imma wear it, but when I was you're age.. no way" We are young and vulnerable to what society thinks. Not everyone is, but many of us at this age are. People are mean. They don't think about what other people do is to make them happy. If it's something they wouldn't do or couldn't picture themselves looking like they tear someone down. I honestly hate that. If yo don't like the physical way someone looks keep it to yourself because everyone is different. Our bodies, yes, they're diverse. Not all bodies are supposed to look like instagram models. Some of us bear a little extra fat but guess what? That's how it's supposed to be! If you tear someone down because they don't look the way society wants them to I'll be the first to call you out on it. Being the witness to people judging others based on physical appearance, I'll say something to you in a heartbeat. Now I know this is getting pretty long but I'm making a point. It's wrong to judge someone based on how the majority of society thinks they should be. There are so many different identities. No two people's identities are the same and that's a good thing. πŸ’―
