⚠️ Long post ⚠️ Today was eventful...we went to the vet for Pep’s annual check up (a little earlier than her 2nd birthday) because she has been having horrible paw irritations that are not letting up although we are doing everything to try and help her little paws. Anyways, I was looking forward to going to the vet since I have been looking for answers and really wanted to know what to do to make her feel better.
Fast forward to today’s visit: the vet came in, immediately taken aback that Pep likes to jump and hug and kiss, she started petting Pepper a little bit and trying to examine her. Pepper of course got scared and nervous - this was her first time here AND new people. She started jumping and nipping a little bit and the vet decides to say “I really don’t feel comfortable giving her a full exam, she’s nipping and with HER BREED we really don’t want her to nip”. First off, what is that supposed to mean? Second, if you’re really scared then can we please get another dr. In here? I dont need comments about her BREED right now. So now I’m irritated and she had to bring Pep to the back to check her ears and Dental with someone else holding her. I heard Pepper whimpering like crazy in the back and they said they couldn’t even check her teeth or take her temp. So I came out with a $300 bill, a foot soak shampoo, allergy meds, and having to change her entire diet and waiting for another 2 weeks for another check up plus another 8 weeks for her diet to adjust to see if she even has a protein allergy at all?! So now I still don’t have an answer and meanwhile feeling super irritated that a vet would be discriminating against Pepper’s breed. The vet also made me feel awful about everything I tried to alleviate Pep’s paw issues. Like who does that??? #done #tyforlettingmevent
