🐓When I followed a vegan lifestyle two years ago and now remain vegetarian I have always heard the good and bad about eggs. It’s a hot debate. I’ve tried to steer clear from eggs bc of the inhumane way hens are treated in most industrialized farming and the senseless killing of male chicks. And also because they can be v. high in cholesterol. But I’ve been doing more research and eggs do have a lot of great sources of nutrition and with a company like @vitalfarms
I could get behind buying eggs again. The most important part to remember is the hens life - are they pasteurized, do they get fed organic feed, are they well taken care of? How is their life? @vitalfarms
is a great company /brand who is doing farming the right way. I want to support farmers who are making a living doing the right thing over the easy thing. Sustainable and happy chicks/cows. So after eating very little eggs in the last few years I may just start again by buying these @wholefoods
. Still doing more research but I think its important to see things from all angles & support the farmers trying to eradicate the cruel industrialized way of farming. #vitalfarms #organicfarming #localfarmers #plantbased #sustainable #humane #education #organic #nutrition #chickens #happychickens
Also be sure to look up cage free vs pasteurized eggs. You’ll learn that cage free has a loose US standard and is really a joke for chickens and that you are better off spending money on pasteurized ones!
